HEALTH INFORMATICS (NORTHERN)

JOINT MEETING WITH BCS West Yorkshire Branch

Speaker:
Dr Gillian Braunold MB BS FRCGP  : Clinical Director, Summary Care Record & HealthSpace

Title: Summary Care Record National Roll-Out Programme.

The biggest computer project in the world! How is it going? The National Programme for IT in the NHS has been described as the biggest computer project in the world. NHS Connecting for Health is now responsible for implementing the national programme, the centrepiece of which is arguably the Summary Care Record (SCR). The SCR programme aims to set up a national health records system, national roll-out of which is well under way.

The talk will give an update on the progress of the Summary Care Record and its deployment across the country. Dr Braunold will cover the consent issues, content, planned changes and utilisation of the record, giving a live demonstration of an optimised record and some other functionality through HealthSpace.

The talk will then cover the QIPP (Quality, Innovation, Productivity and Prevention) challenges that the SCR programme leaders believe the centrally delivered functionality helps to deliver to support the NHS
